Delicious NO FAIL challah recipe

So many have you asked for it and here it is the delicious challa recipe. Try it out and believe me if you follow the instructions you will get it right. if you have any other questions just give me a call! enjoy

Rochel Simons Z’L  Challah recipe

Ingredients
4 cups of warm water
60gm of fresh yeast or 4 sachet’s of dry yeast
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup of oil
2 Tbsp of salt
1 cup of sugar (you can add more for sweeter challah)
13-14 cups of flour
For wholemeal variation  use 6 /7 cups of plain flour + 6 cups of wholemeal flour. (for lighter bread use less wholemeal)
Method

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir with a fork until the yeast is completely disolved and bubbles, then add; sugar, salt and mix with a fork. Gradually add half the flour. Mix well. Add eggs and oil, then slowly stir in most of the remaining flour. Dough will become quite thick. When dough pulls away from sides of the bowl, turn onto floured board (or can do this in bowl itself if large enough) and knead for approximately 10 minutes. Add only enough flour to make manageable.knead until dough has acquired ‘a life of it’s own’ it should be smooth and elastic, springing back when pressed lightly with a fingertip.place dough into a large bowl.Cover with glad wrap and let it rise (in a warm place as a bonus!)  for two hours, punching down in four or five places every 20 minutes (if you can ) Braid dough and let it rise again another approx 20 minutes then cover in egg and add sesame seeds.
Bake for approximately 25 minutes at 160 degrees. Tip: place a tray with water on bottom tray in oven to make a nice crust.

How to separate Challah:
After the dough has been mixed and before it has been shaped into separate loaves and baked, you say the Brachah (blessing).

Baruch A-Tah A-Do-Noi Elo-Hai-Nu Me-Lech Ha-o-lam A-sher Kid-sha-nu
 B’Mitz-vo-tav V’Tzi-Va-Nu L’Haf-rish Chal-lah.

Blessed are you, L-rd our G-d, King of the Universe, Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to separate Challah.

Then you remove a small piece from the dough and say: “Harei zeh Challah’ (this is challah). Burn the Challah separately from the rest of the dough.
